Our School Vision

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

At St Matthew’s we enable children to become aspirational citizens. Our curriculum is enhanced by our deeply Christian ethos, empowering children and enabling them to flourish. Worship is the heart of the school and our Christian values teach children to value themselves: they are courageous advocates for the Christian message.

St Matthew’s is a two-form entry, Church of England primary school. Our core purpose is to improve outcomes and opportunities for the children in our community, and our vibrant and committed team work collaboratively, both within the school and across the Frays Academy Trust, to achieve this. We are forward focused and driven by current educational research to ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils and support for their families. We value our staff, and demonstrate this through keeping well-being at the top of our agenda and through providing bespoke professional development. At St Matthew’s our Christian ethos and school values underpin the way in which we work, both with children and within the local community. Our most recent SIAMS inspection highlighted staff wellbeing as a strength, stating “Staff morale is high despite recent changes. They feel well supported and valued by leaders. They are confident to express their views to school leaders and feel that feedback is very much a ‘two-way thing’. Being part of a multi-academy trust (MAT) provides them with helpful networking and staff wellbeing opportunities. Adults flourish and so do the pupils.

The successful candidates will be:

  • Innovative, creative and passionate about children’s progress and well-being.
  • A dynamic teacher who is able to keep children engaged and motivated to learn.
  • A reflective practitioner who believes in continuous professional development.
  • Child-focused and hold a genuine belief in the potential of every child.
  • Committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all children.
  • Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply.

In return, we will offer:

  • Highly motivated, well-behaved children who demonstrate their enjoyment of school through their excellent attendance and attitudes towards learning.
  • An open-minded Senior Leadership Team who are looking for new ideas to drive the school forward.
  • A strong team of dedicated, supportive and experienced staff who are committed to school improvement.
  • A supportive and friendly Governing Body committed to supporting staff well-being.
  • Membership of a collaborative and creative Trust to lend support and expertise.
  • An on-going commitment to your professional development.
  • The opportunity to make a real difference to school improvement.
  • A Senior Team with high regard for work-life balance and well-being, including access to ‘Health Assured - Employee Assistance Programme.’

St Matthew’s is situated on a busy high street, close to bus and overground train routes.

Visits to the school are welcomed and highly recommended. Please arrange a visit by contacting the Office Manager at St Matthew’s CE Primary, Mrs J Dempsey on 01895 442724.

Closing date: 10th May 2024

Interview date: Week commencing 13th May 2024
